Illuminata, a collective exhibition conceived by Francesca Ballini and Bodo Sperlein, celebrated the merge of skilful design and exquisite craftsmanship with a deep understanding for materiality.

The exhibition transformed the Chiesa Cristiana Protestante in Milano into a spectacular display of creative enlightenment embodied by timeless and beautiful designs. This was the first time this magnificent space had been used for exhibition purposes during the Fuorisalone.

The unique location of the late 19th century Lombard-Gothic style church offered a compelling and atmospheric setting, and the exhibition was a dynamic new addition to the Milan Design Week.

The name “Illuminata” is a fitting reflection of both the exhibition itself and the atmospheric church space.

The exhibition illustrated the intertwining of materiality and innovation and was appreciated as an extraordinary showcase for brands, bringing together projects, companies and designers who are defining the contemporary design culture and investigating the future of making
